The Pop-Up Piano Teacher method is a series of books with video lessons, that teach you how to play the piano from the very beginning. You can learn wherever you are, at your own pace, and within 2 lessons you will be able to play a beautiful piece of music with both hands, reading the notes from the score. Book 1 includes 10 video lessons and 9 pieces of original piano music inspired by the stunning Cornish landscape. All you need to get started is a piano or full sized keyboard, and a DVD player, PC, laptop or tablet to watch the video lessons. We recommend Book 1 to learners aged 14 and upwards.

The method, lessons and pieces were created by Jenni Dandy, a qualified and working piano teacher with 15 years experience. Book 1 is designed to take learners from the absolute basics up to Grade 1 standard with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Upon completion of the first book, guidance on entering for this exam can be found on our YouTube channel.

FAQs

Who is Book 1 suitable for?

The first book is for absolute beginners and for those with some piano experience, looking for a new challenge. Book 1 is recommended for learners aged 14 years and up. There is a forthcoming Primary book for children younger than 14.

Am I too old to learn to play the piano?

You're never too old to learn to play the piano! With the Pop-Up Piano Teacher method there's no rush, and no expectations to meet; it's just you and your piano. 

Our brains are capable of learning new things at any point in our lives, and in fact it's much easier as an adult, to grasp abstract concepts like notation and translate them into hand movements. So when it comes to comprehending music, it's an advantage to be older and wiser!
